Zev Shechtman represents debtors, creditors, creditors’ committees, trustees, shareholders, asset purchasers, and other parties in bankruptcy, restructuring, and insolvency matters. He has assisted clients in a variety of industries, including entertainment, aviation, real estate, food and restaurants, trucking, healthcare, media, retail, e-commerce, telecommunications, and energy. He is often sought to assist legal teams dealing with complex litigation or transactions requiring bankruptcy expertise.
Zev serves on the mediation panels for the United States District Court for the Central District of California, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California, and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of California.
Zev served as 2021-2022 President of the Los Angeles Bankruptcy Forum and is a former chair of the Bankruptcy Section of the Beverly Hills Bar Association. Zev is a member of the board of the Anti-Defamation League’s Pacific Southwest Region and supports the pro bono legal services of Bet Tzedek and Public Counsel’s Debtor Assistance Project. He is an editorial board member of the California Bankruptcy Journal and the California Lawyers Association’s Business Law News. While a law student at the University of Southern California, Zev served as Managing Editor of the Southern California Review of Law & Social Justice.
Zev served as an extern for the Honorable Thomas B. Donovan of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California in the Summer of 2007.

In re Ravn Air Group, Inc., in which Zev represented the buyer of Alaska’s largest regional airline in a chapter 11 bankruptcy sale.
In re Jaguar Distribution Corp., in which Zev represented a chapter 11 debtor specializing in airline film distribution.
In re East Coast Foods, Inc., in which Zev represented the chapter 11 trustee for Roscoe’s Chicken ‘N’ Waffles.
In re Pacific 9 Transportation, Inc., in which Zev represented the creditors’ committee in a chapter 11 case involving a port trucking company with a history of labor code violations.
In re Death Row Records and In re Suge Knight, in which Zev represented court-appointed trustees who sold the debtors’ extensive music library and resolved numerous claims.
In re State Fish Co., in which Zev represented the shareholders of a large Los Angeles fish distributor.
In re Namvar and In re Namco, in which Zev represented the chapter 11 trustees of the debtors’ real estate and financial businesses.
In re Meruelo Maddux Properties, Inc., in which Zev represented 56 chapter 11 debtors who were collectively the largest non-government landowner in downtown Los Angeles.
